Lest we forget

I spent a while today with two ladies who remember when D Day happened, one was twelve and the other was six.
Both were evacuated, and it was fascinating to hear their experiences, and how different things were then, just a few years before I was born.
I’m so lucky that the courage of everybody who served on June 6th 1944 helped to secure the peace that I’ve been blessed with throughout my life.
I spent time in France as a student, and remember seeing the huge cemetery at Bayeux, and being shocked to see that many of the ages on the headstones were younger than I was.
These beautiful flowers from one of the ladies’ gardens is for all of that generation.
With thanks.
