The Skytrain

A bit of a dull blip today.

Running down th middle of Sukhumvit Road is the Skytrain. It's a marvellous transport system that is very safe (no accidents so far), clean and effecient. However, not very extensive so it's often not an option to help get from A to B.

So I found myself on a visit to another school travelling under the Skytrain and stuck in Bangkok's notoriously bad traffic.

When we first came to Bangkok we were like 'great, they drive on the left just like us (Brits)' but then it soon became apparent that if the mood takes them the Thais will drive on whichever side of the road that they want! It is not unusual to see a moped coming straight at you, fully loaded with husband, wife and two kids, as happened this morning, with not a helmet in sight.

I will try to capture some overladen mopeds for you in future blips.
