trente ans. Rather more formal media arrangements than the 40th anniversary in 1984. On that occasion the Government Press Office team were surprised to find that the square pin plug on their photocopier would not go into the French sockets. 

Both events were well attended by veterans, and very moving. 

In June 1944 my uncle was in an MGB guarding the flank against E boats, without much incident. My dad was on his way to meet the Pope in liberated Rome. My mum had been widowed exactly a month before. Her first husband was killed at Kohima on 6th May.
