158/366 Operation Jubilee !

158/366 6th June  Operation Juilee ! On the 80th Anniversary of D Day it’s important to remember that years of planning went into it, a plaque on the pier at West Bay commemorates the Yukon Exercises held during June 1942 to practise for Operation Jubilee the landing at Dieppe 9th August 1942 this was a complete disaster with over 3000 mostly Canadian troops dead, wounded or captured but valuable lessons were learnt that helped 2 years later on the Normandy Coast.  (mono #21/52) https://www.mhsm.ca/Documents/operation%20jubillee--dieppe%20by%20warren%20otto.pdf
