A local walk
Today I was able to help out on Harry's trip out. The Year one classes have been learning about the local area and today we took a stroll through the shady lanes around the school. We found horse mounting blocks and hooks from which food for the horses could be hung. We saw cart wheels, old ploughs and stables. It was lovely to help out as I'm usually at work. Harry was delighted, if a little disappointed that he wasn't in my group.
This is Vale Mill. It stands on a high hill and has magnificent views all around the north of the island. It once had sails but they were removed. The Germans commandeered it during the Occupation of the island. They built the extra section on top and used it as a look out tower. The sails have never been replaced.
It has been a beautiful day again. I could get very used to these blue skies and sunshine. :-)
