Trabucco#2

R is so fascinated by 'trabucci'... see blips last 2 days... he found one we could visit to see how they catch the fish. What a fabulous experience :beautiful place near Vieste. The water really was turquoise. We were met by Michele (Pronounced Mikele) who owns several trabucci. He was so passionate about them and proud of his heritage. They are hoping to get UNESCO recognition for these ancient trabucci. His grandmother gave this one to his father as a wedding gift. We learned all about the history, the construction and how they work.... pulling up the huge net by a system of 'turnstiles'.
Afterwards a swim and a lunch at a beachside restaurant.
We should have left today to head into N Italy and then the Alps for some walking - but the weather looks cold and wet in the mountains over the weekend, so we have extended our stay by 3 nights to enjoy the sun and sea for a little longer!
