Swimming in the Quays

Before we get to that, up and out to get the trains to Manchester. The tube ran very well but the actual trains were all mucho delayed. First I sat on Worthing platform for 30 minutes delay thinking I could have just stayed in bed. Then an hour at Euston followed by a very busy train with all the reserved seats cancelled. Some American ladies (with seats but not their reserved ones) didn’t really get over that for the fullness of the journey.

So, to work by 1, an ok afternoon chatting with my boss which was nice. Then Hannah and I left, went to our hotel, I put on my swimming costume (with other clothes on top) and we set forth to find the Wednesday night swimming session in the quays.

It was all a bit too professional and windy for me I decided, 90% of people were in wetsuits and they were all swimming big laps round, heads down front crawl. There was no one bimbling about. So we watched for a bit, I’ll go back and have another look next month when I’m back. Might be a bit warmer then too.

We went back along to the place with the amazing fried fish and bought (too much) dinner. And Wednesday night is wine night apparently, according to the sign so we went along with that. At one point I went to the toilets to take all my clothes off to get out of my swimming costume which made me laugh. And feel all relieved not to be wearing it any longer.

And the actually fabulous news of the day is the damp rotting door stop wood didn’t go back very far at all and Marc has fixed it all. Hurray for not having to pull up a whole load of flooring!
