Alien Botanical Mystery
Several months ago we cut down a pine tree that was dying from a severe aphid attack, but left the stump as a base for a pot.
This summer the stump started to weep a nasty looking orange green liquid fungus.
Now looking at it today, it is infested with small maggots squirming around in the evil looking gloop. The maggots are from 3mm to 10mm in length.
I shall leave this dangerous looking micro world for a few days more, before I may decide to exterminate it.
Looks like it would make a good poison worthy of the Medicis!
Or perhaps an inspiration for a painting by Jackson Pollock?
