the weather was cooler than expected so we walked up cnicht and spent the day looking at the old mine workings and the abandoned slate piles around the derelict houses. eventually we came across a small lake and sat in the sun - idyllic! as we returned to croeso village we chatted to a local who was off to an 80th birthday party for an old shepherd. he was most knowledgeable about the old quarry where his dad had worked until its closure in 1930. he told us about the tramways and places round about. a cup of tea and a nod in the van finished the visit well. lots of pics to choose from but this just suggested the quiet of the day.
