Don't Worry

This evening I have learned about Guatemalan Worry Dolls.

My American friend had a few amongst the things I've kept and they are all in varying sizes from less than an inch tall to about two.

Today I was sorting a donation bag at the charity shop and this little chap fell out...of course I had to bring him home to meet his comrades!

If I'd known what they were I would have insisted my friend keep them on her travels.

Originally designed with anxious children in mind, the Mayans gave these to children to tell their worries to and them place them under their pillows at bedtime. In the morning, their worry is gone as the little doll has taken it on.

As time went on I guess it became obvious that adults have worries too and so young and old alike would have a few of these little people.

They are in sets of 6 so you can tell each doll a separate worry for 6 days and they can rest on the seventh.

I just love these quirky little colourful characters and I'm so glad I took the time to find out more! :)
