Butcher Bird
This juvenile was perched on the ute bonnet today, the adults are black and white. They are native to Australasia and eat insects and small lizards. They get their name from their habit of impaling prey on a thorn or tree fork to support the victim while it is being eaten, to store for later or to attract mates. They show little fear and will readily take food from humans, as this little chap proves!
