Looks Good To Me

Red Barn and Lavender

Some time ago, Cynthia and I were at a charity auction where she successfully bid on a lavender wreath-making lesson at Red Barn Lavender farm. The owners, Marv and Lynn, have a stall at the weekly Bellingham Farmers' Market where they sell lavender-based products and also eggs. We've been enjoying their eggs for several years.

This afternoon we drove out to the farm for C to have her lesson. It was a beautiful summer day, with a refreshing breeze. While C worked on her wreath, with instruction from Lynn, Marv gave me a tour of the farm. I tasted the raspberries and small Montmorency cherries, which were a little on the tart side -- perfect for someone who loves Belgian sour beer! I thanked the remaining hens for all the eggs they'd laid for us, and they clucked approvingly.

Marv showed me a different kind of egg -- a sky-blue robin's egg. He said the female had already raised her first family and was starting on her second.

After the tour, I watched C completing her wreath. It was a lot more work than I realized, requiring quite a bit of dexterity. She did a great job and was pleased with the result. Here's an action shot on my Flickr Photostream.
