Trabucco

Àn amazing experience today. R has been so interested in 'trabucci' and after lots of research we went to one for lunch. A hairy, very steep drive to a remote headland then lots of steps down! The views were spectacular in all directions, the wooden construction perched high above the water, fascinating and lunch just great. We had tomato bruscheta and antipasti.
'The Trabucchi (probably dating from 18th century) are ancient fishing machines that the Garganici used to fish from the ground. In the past, going out fishing in a boat was very risky given the numerous pirate attacks. The astute fishermen invented the trabucco, a machine that allowed them to continue fishing without risk.'
Extras show more and views. They are only in this area and slightly further north.
A run early this morning, a swim late afternoon and a fish and salad dinner in the old town.
