Grandad

"Grandad's Rose"*, which is usually flowering in time for Fathers Day so is a little bit early this year.  That in itself is surprising bearing in mind the apparent weather although I did read somewhere that May was warmer than average. I'm never quite sure when they measure the "average" bit and it certainly didn't feel like it in the South.

Even more annoying, just when it does start to warm up, I'm heading North tomorrow,  where it's about 10 degrees cooler.  It's an early start as it's about a six hour drive, not including wee and snack stops, and i want to get there mid afternoon ish so it doesn't feel like I've spent my entire day on the M40/M6 (it will). Himself is already grumbling.

* I'm not quite sure why it is called this as "Grandad" (my FiL) died in February (10 years ago), so not rose season. Still, that's what it's known as so that's what it's called.
