Bathing Sea Gulls

It was 6:30 p.m., and I hadn't taken a single picture. Hadn't even taken the camera out of the bag.

I decided to go out to the state park, in search of deer, and bathing sea gulls. Deer...zero, sea gulls...about 20.

They were getting ready to retire for the evening. Dipping and dipping in the lake...and fanning the feathers. They are very good bathers.

I also took a towel. Michigan is called The Water Wonderland. Here it is July 7, and I haven't been in the water one time. Disgraceful.

I don't enjoy swimming as much as I used to...I suppose for a variety of reasons.

1. My ears get plugged, so I tend not to go underwater.

2. Since I don't like to go underwater, I just do the doggie paddle. That's OK until you hear the little guy on the beach. "Hey Mommy...that guy swims like Rover."

3. My lime green Speedo just doesn't fit like it used to. I know they stretch...but c'mon...nobody needs to see that.

I came close to shutting down the beach. Me, 4 fishermen, and 2 young boys in the water were the only ones left.

10 other bathing sea gulls are on my FLICKR PAGE. They were really active tonight. Fun to watch.
