Drum Castle Gardens

The intention today was to go to Crathes Castle see the walled garden. The perennial borders should be at their best around now. However arriving at the castle estate we found the Aberdeen kilt walk progressing through the grounds. There were masses of people and cars parked everywhere. We decided to give Crathes a miss.

Instead we headed to Drum Castle, I feared we might find the kilt walk here as well, especially as it is closer to Aberdeen. It seems the walk was  staying close to the river, so Drum has been spared today. The car park was fairly busy this was an oasis of calm compared to Crathes.

The walled garden is looking good, though this is primarily a rose garden, and not many roses have appeared yet. It will probably be at its best in a few weeks.
