After yesterday’s sunny weather it was disappointing this afternoon to see the cloudy weather with the wind keeping the butterflies away, so I was pleased to see a Wall Brown butterfly on the track. The species is increasingly rare and listed as endangered on the GB Red list but is now spreading into Scotland with some being found in parts of the south east and south west of Scotland..  It is so named as it likes to bask on walls, rocks and stony places as this male Wall was doing..
