Family day

Spent the day in Newquay with my little family.
My niece took part in her first Olympic distance triathlon. Despite being a confident competent sea swimmer she struggled a bit on the mile swim, due to other people barging and worried about losing her swim goggles and came out towards the back of the pack, but she made up a lot of places on the 25 mile bike ride, then continued to improve on the 10 km run and finally finished 2nd lady and first lady over 40. After the initial exhaustion and "I'm not doing that again"by the end of the day she was already planning her next one.
My grand niece (the above's daughter) took part in a duathalon, run bike run and finished 2nd in the over 9-10 age group. She has amazing maturity, being 4 at the end of the first run but knowing she was really good on her bike just worked her way through the field and held onto 2nd during the final run phase.
It was a glorious day for spectators and my face is tingling with the sea air and sunshine
