Gala
Cal and I went to Robertsbridge to see the new RVR station and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Robertsbridge is at the end of a piece of track that would connect KESR to Robertsbridge and the mainline. A mainline connection is incredibly valuable to a heritage railway as it means that visiting engines can arrive under their own power rather than coming on a low-loader. Robertsbridge also has a turntable, without a turntable or triangle engines have to face the same way all the time. We had a ride behind Britannia along the short length of track towards Bodiam, the current end of KESR from Tenterden.
Then we went to Northiam where we saw 31806, a U class engine on loan from Swanage. We also saw a Terrier and Hastings double-heading a train towards Tenterden.
After that much excitment it was time to head into Maidstone for some food at Wagamamamamama. All up a lovely day
