Bike-less in Barcelona
Back blip
My bike has been on sale in Wallapop for a couple of weeks now without any takers. Today we took it to a local bike shop who’d said they’d buy it for next to nothing from us and then do it up to sell in the shop. They couldn’t offer us much because they give 6 month guarantees on any 2nd hand bikes and so they’d need to get it in good nick. Anyway, when we got to the shop, the owner said they had enough bikes and weren’t interested. Now that we have the new sofa on the patio(see Bb’s blip of a could of days ago) the bikes used to be, we just wanted to, in a nice way, get rid of the bike.
We left the shop, wondering what to do, when a young woman was unlocking her bike from the lamppost and about to get on. Long story short, I asked her if she knew anybody who’d like our bike for the taking. Turned out her boyfriend had had his bike stolen a couple of weeks ago and so we walked it round to her flat, 3 mins away, and she took it in and thanked us profusely. She also asked if we wanted anything for it, but we said no, just happy that it was going to a good home. It was her boyfriend’s birthday that day and so would be a nice surprise for him. We all laughed about the fact that this kind of thing doesn’t happen every day. Right place, right time, and all that.
