THE DETECTORISTS

Another warm day today.  Went over to see Mum and my lovely Niece and her eldest Son, Shane were there, that was a lovely surprise.  Of course being a Great Aunt to Shane this meant I could get away (sort of) with giving him a big cuddle, but as he goes to the big school after the Summer I doubt that will happen very often in the future.  It was lovely to see them both though.

They had to go by about 11.00 as Max (Shane's little brother) was due home from his football.  So we took Mum over to Dunelm as we needed a few things and we could get some reasonable lunch there.

After a coffee at Mum's we headed off home.  We can't go next week due to Dave Day, it's a shame really as my sister and her boyfriend will be away too, but it's not worth trying to negotiate around 10,000  motorcycles. Still it's only for that weekend.

We stopped off on the Prom for me to take a couple of photos.  I couldn't quite see what these were doing down on the beach but I took a photo of them anyway, and now I've edited the photo I can see they are detecting for something!!!

(See extras) We had excitement last night as a steam train was due down the Cumbrian Coast passing through out little station.  So we duly went down when it was due.  I met the Chairman of our Grange Photographic Society down there too (he's the person sitting in the photo of train as it whips past us).  Now the sun was right ahead of us at that time of the day and a little low down, however by careful negotiation I managed to get some reasonable photos without too much glare.  They could have been better but I still struggle knowing what do in taking photos of such fast moving trains so I'm still chuffed that they've turned out.  For those interested the steam engine was the SR 4-6-2 Tangmere - named after the WW2 RAF Airfield from where Douglas Bader flew and is therefore a Battle of Britain engine.

There was a lot of people down there this time, much more than there usually is.  Probably due to the sunny weather and being half term.

There is due to be another one next Saturday, 8th June details to follow. However early indications are that it MAY NOT happen due to engineering works south of Workington - but time will tell.

That's all from me, do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
