Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2024 Monday — Home Tour

Today was the observance of Memorial Day; the most expensive holiday on the calendar. Every hot dog, every burger, every spin around the lake, or drink with friends and family . . . is a debt . . . purchased by others. This is not about all who've served . . . that day comes in the fall. This one is in honor of those who paid in life and blood; whose moms never saw them again, whose dads wept in private, whose wives raised kids alone, and whose kids only remembered them from pictures. This isn't simply a day off. This is a day to remember - that others paid for every free breath you and I ever get to take.

For the group of gals who have been participating in Susan’s Breakfast Bible for the past ten Monday mornings, this was our last gathering. We actually should have finished two weeks ago, but twice Susan had to be absent and on those mornings we met to enjoy breakfast and each other, but we did not do the chapter lesson from the little book “The Women of the New Testament.” Most of us are retired, so 3-day weekends are not for going away on a mini vacation, but rather staying close to home and off the highways. So there were plenty of us gathered this morning.

The bonus is that one of us, Denise, lives in the newly remodeled little house across the street and invited us to tour the house when our study time ended.

The house originally was built and owned by Denise’s great-grandparents. So she and her husband remodeled the house with the intention of leaving some of the old house in place and adding to it. The history and story of Denise’s great-grandparents living there is quite interesting. Denise has the house decorated to the Nth degree and is quite charming. What my photos do not reveal is that they have a spectacular view of Morro Rock from their front window.

From Morro Bay on
California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
