Hobbs's Run

"Look Ma .. No Tripod"

It is raining again in the Blue Mountains, although so far it's been mainly drizzle. I had ventured forth, looking for bush scenes but was soon confronted with waterfalls. Under heavy rain, these locations quickly become so fast flowing and full that longish exposures tend to flood the frame with featureless blur. So I thought I'd grab this one while the grabbing was still good. Alas NO tripod and NO ND filter to hand.

f 16, 100 ISO, 116 mm (ffeq), 0.5 sec exposure with a 2 sec shutter delay. Once upon a time, I'd have given up but the stabilisation on modern cameras can surprise.

I laid against a tree, held my breath, braced my elbows into my body, gently pressed the camera backwards into my face but gripped the body  as lightly as possible. ... Click!

I don't think it was a bad result but I'd really have preferred a full second exposure and I wish there hadn't  been a slight breeze, wafting the vegetation about.
