Not jury service

I had been summoned for an 8 week case for jury service. It was deferred on Monday but started today. 8 weeks!!!!!
I arrived early and waited outside. The photo is of the beautiful mosaic outside.

In I go through an airport like security, along long corridors to a desk. They look at my identification card which has my date of birth. The girl says “ because of your age” you can opt not to attend an 8 week trial”. The had no shorter trials. I was so so so relieved. 8 weeks. I could opt for a 2 week trial later in the year.
