Joelle Taylor
Meet Joelle Taylor. Poet, spoken word performer, actor, educator and now novelist.
Joelle won the prestigious T.S.Eliot Poetry Prize in 2021 for her collection ‘C+nto’, and also won the Polari Best LGBT Book Prize 2022 and the Saboteur Spoken Word Artist of the Year 2022.
She’s a Poetry Fellow at the University of East Anglia, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and the curator of the Koestler Awards 2023.
‘The Night Alphabet’ - her novel of interconnecting stories linked around the experiences of one woman and how she came by her collection of tattoos - is out now.
She gave a stunning ‘in character’ performance of three of the stories tonight to conclude this year’s WoWFest in barnstorming style.
What a writer! What a performer! You can find out a bit more about her, in her own words, here https://youtu.be/p5LYXDGUEFs?si=XtrhNb8VAwwfxXQA
Thanks to her for a hugely entertaining and thought-provoking evening, and some great poses.
Today’s jukebox selection is ‘You Tattooed Me’ by Tom Robinson https://youtu.be/CEwCeqajX-U?si=Q9VuFGxyZTAnWGk0
