Carillon

Another day, another sculpture. We had an art talk at the NGA today, so cheapskates that we are, we parked at the Carillon and walked to the Gallery, which gave us time to take in the sculpture garden (at least on the way back, when we were no longer running late, and the bleak wintry weather had slightly improved).

This is Linda Marrinon’s Woman in Jumpsuit looking out towards the Carillon. To me, she seemed sculpted out of butter, to my husband (he of the mineral bent), sulphur stalactites. In fact it’s coloured bronze with hand painted additions.

The talk, allegedly on the intersection of art and travel, but more a discourse on artworks loosely connected by prussian blue in Japanese woodblock - leading to early British cyanotypes - leading to a travel album mashup from the early nineteenth century, was pretty interesting. Lots of interesting food for thought, and very interesting/vivacious presenters.
