Historic Day

A gorgeous warm and sunny morning. Went for an exploratory bike ride and discovered some tranquil spots of Colinton and Craiglochart, Edinburgh. This included Redhall House. Built in 1758 for George Inglis of Auchendinny, it now stands empty its windows boarded up. Tucked away in a peaceful corner I found a beautiful dovecot. It is an unusual hexagonal shape and apparently has 757 nest holes. I particularly liked the vibrant yellow of its walls which really stood out in the morning sunshine. The, now blocked up, window above the door would once have been open to allow the doves to fly in and out.

Returned home to do some baking and watch Andy Murray win the Wimbledon final - a special occasion.
