The best welcome to Lisbon. These are like an egg custard tart, but waaaay better. The crisp crunch of flaky, melt in the mouth pastry, the softest creamy custard, the hint of cinnamon.

The locals eat them for breakfast. In Belem, there is the best baker of these delights. Locals and tourists queue daily. One is never enough.

Having arrived after breakfast, but with such an early start, we decided to combine and have brunch... one Pastel and one beer please.
