Bacon Butty Barge

I have found that a good, long walk helps my stomach to settle and distracts me from what is buzzing around my head. Jude and I walked along the canal to Monton, then back through the golf course this morning. A barge passed us with a group of Americans on board...they were having their breakfast. A delicious smell of bacon butties wafted passed us as they chugged along. We passed pleasantries and then they went under the bridge and off on their travels.

We made a little detour to visit one of our childhood climbing trees...the worm. It grew up about a metre and then out at a ninety degree angle. We used to climb it most days, a whole gang of us could sit astride its trunk....great memories. We walked down Chatsworth Road and reminisced about the houses and people who used to live there. Jude used to live in Silver How....we used to play pool in the snooker room at the top of the house...happy days. It has been knocked down now and Ryan Giggs lives there.

I spoke to Rachel last night and we were remembering our holidays on Anglesey. I think I'm still in the 'remembering' mood. Anyway we have decided to meet up there for a holiday in August and revisit old haunts.

Pelly and I sat in the garden and soaked up some rays before I watched the tennis...it has been 77 years since a British man won Wimbledon. Murray won on the 7th day of the 7th month. I was quite emotional when it ended so I nipped back to Jude's and had a glass of Pimms in the garden with her.
