Gold
Beautiful morning and I was up early for the furniture restorer arriving to collect the bridge table. Looking forward to it being done and the awful sun damage to the top being repaired.
Afterwards I walked down to town in very welcome sunshine to meet VW at Trailfinders….i enjoyed seeing this craftsman adding gold to the lettering on the galleries sign….that's been a long job for him!
We spent the whole morning with the travel agent planning out the trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos next February/March. She was very helpful and had been to most of the places we talked about which really helped. We’re now waiting on a quote but it will be too much and for too long so then we’ll start trimming it back…a job for later!
Very exciting to plan, though, and when we emerged from the shop we went for a sandwich lunch to catch up on other stuff.
Walked home…by now the clouds were gathering and I just got in before the rain started, seemingly inevitably. I did some catch up emails and once again launched into negotiations/arguments with Luton council about getting P’s care costs sorted out. They have been so impossible to deal with, I’m very thankful I’ve kept detailed notes of every interaction with them. Sigh!
I then embarked on a huge pile of ironing of bed linen, listening to various podcasts, before meeting up with CK in the new Punjabi restaurant round the corner. Once again very tasty, although they didn’t have some of the things we’d wanted to order, and we chatted non stop about all sorts as it’s been ages since we met up.
Over to the Festival Theatre to see The Motive and the Cue…a National Theatre film of the staging of the play about the rehearsal process for the Gielgud/Burton Hamlet on Broadway (extra). It was brilliantly acted and we enjoyed it, although it was quite long, but nice to come out whilst it was still light (and had even stopped raining!).
