I went to Infiesto today, to get my car serviced and to see the María Luisa photos. María Luisa was a local woman, a photographer and mountaineer, who died on a mountain, some 30 years or more ago. Her former associates remember her every year with a world-class photo competition, which attracts entries from across the world. The photos short-listed are printed , about 5ft square I estimate, and displayed across the town - everywhere there´s a bit of public space they erect a frame with a photo in it.
I was going to try to make a photo that showed a number of photos being displayed but I wasn´t happy with any of the photos. So here you have a white brick wall with black graffiti on it. The first text makes no sense but is probably intended to mean "A huge test but of intelligence" and the second says "When injustice is the law, rebellion is a duty". I just liked the picture.
The extra is a giant spider from one of the photos. I may try again for a better photo later.
The spider photo will be copyright Jose Manuel Lois Rial.
