Las Brañas de Caldas
Although we once again woke up not feeling fantastic, I trusted to the altitude to sort me out - and it worked. It was one of the best days I've had in the mountains for many a year. A lovely walk with E in the morning to find my bearings, and then a proper mountaineering expedition in the afternoon, leaving E to enjoy the facilities of the spa at our hotel.
I took over 300 photographs while falling in love with this remote part of Spain. To inspire me to return, I've taken the time to put together a story of the walk on my website, realising that I haven't posted there for over two years. I've also found a great site for recording summit ascents. I climbed Pico de la Brazosa in the afternoon and there are some photos here too, for anyone who wants a taste. I'd never come across Peakery before. There's very little information available for the mountains here, so hopefully it will help other people find their way to exploring more.
We both felt much better come the evening. My sore throat and sniffle had almost gone. There's nothing quite like the healing power of vigorous exercise!
