Maldon Prom parkrun RD

Enjoyable stint at RD for today's parkrun. There was an interesting discussion with the gentleman 'managing' the Vegan Festival and M and I had to escort a car through the runners before we could start safely. 

There was also a runner with a waist harness that I had to have a quiet word with. It is a bit of a catch 22 situation. Complaints from runners who see waist harnesses vs complaints from waist harness wearers. In my view, better to keep everyone happy and run a safe event. 

There was also a problem with the results which, luckily, we were able to resolve; thanks to the time keeper's and the number checker's help. 

Mostly the event went well and loads of people expressed their thanks, which made it a lovely experience. We had the lovely Mark run, who paid us a visit and took a video of our beautiful parkrun. He started at the back, and passed several of the regular runners. It was good to see them feature in his video.  The blip features some of the first finishers, who are rarely photographed. As RD it is fun seeing just how fast they run. I had to really put a lot of effort into a sprint to be sure of being at the finish in time for the first runner. 

We spent the rest of the day with C firstly for breakfast in Sofie's Cafe and then catching up on news and views, enjoying time together in the garden.

C and D arrived back from Lanzarotti about 1 am so we did not see them 'till Sunday.
