The roses are remarkably free of aphids so far this year, and the Acer tree has also avoided an aphid attack.  I suppose this is related to the weather.  There are very few insects of any kind on the go.  I look with envy at the numbers and variety that other blippers are seeing.  On the other hand, there is no shortage of slugs and snails.
