Wendy's World

Focused

We spent today at one of Euan's favourite places, the MAD Museum in Stratford.  Mad stands for The Mechanical Art and Design Museum.  Euan would spend all day here if his accompanying adults didn't tire so easily.  We managed two full hours with him moving from exhibit to exhibit, some of which are automated by sensors.  There are incredible marble runs and wooden automata as well as Gears Problems and these building bricks which have to be put together to allow marbles to run through them.

Before arriving at the Museum we had second breakfast in Huffkins with rather yummy scones for us and scrambled egg on toast for Euan, then before heading home we ate a late lunch in the Deli Cafe and Euan had a not altogether successful go with the Spirograph we bought for him in the Museum.  Do you remember your Spirograph?  The central holes in the wheels were easy to operate but the more creative patterns are always made by the outer holes which cause control issues.  He will get there with practice.

We had a longer than expected drive home because it turns out there are two places with the same name and one of the two google maps following the route was loaded with the incorrect address.........We should have listened to Euan when he said, 'Straight Ahead!'

Back home he was on with his new lego model which is a technic kit of the moon, the earth and a planet in orbit.  He needs the occasional input from a grown up with the fiddly bits, otherwise he cracks on with following the instructions.  When Dad arrived home, they both spent an enjoyable time on Kerbl (new to me), a complex space programme in which you have to build a rocket to the correct specifications in order to reach space, orbit, carry out EVA and land on a planet, far beyond my brain cells.

Tomorrow swimming!  Hope my ancient cossie doesn't fall to pieces....
