2nd Sat Strollers

I will hold you forever

Guess what today's entry, from the pictured 2003 compilation, is ...

... my very favourite Edwin Morgan verse, which I've always absolutely adored  :-)

A message of loss, memory, hope and the deepest of love; to a departed friend. A message about the eternity of it all. And encapsulated in six short lines - it really is a piece of poetic genius:

The Glass

To love you in shadow as in the light
is light itself. In subterranean night
you sow the fields with fireflies of delight.

Lanarkshire holds you, under its grim grass.
But I hold what you were, like a bright glass
I carry brimming through the darkening pass.
