Carnival

The annual town event , which has as its centrepiece a procession of floats , walking and truck based , from local community organisations. This year the theme was “musicals”. Our town crier leads them out. ( above). The Abbey won ( again) best walking float.

The weather played ball until about 2 when the heavens opened and the Abbey became a refuge! It was lovely to chat to people sheltering.
Then it brightened up again and we were only moderately busy until again a deluge; this time of hail. Little kids in the abbey with no coats on, soaked to the skin with hail in their hair! Fun times!
I packed up about 4, as did R , who had been doing a shift on the Dragon boat stall.

On a completely different note we had a Greater Spotted Woodpecker on the bird feeder this evening!! At first I didn’t like to think that was what it was until the second time I clearly caught the red flash under its tail.

Oh and very late to the party we finished Ted Lasso tonight. The most perfect ending :(
