A Mind of Their Own

The poppies still want to grown in the vegetable beds, even though I scatter seeds by the thousands in every corner of the garden. We get to enjoy them until it’s time to make way for the beans and squash. The bees enjoy them as well—you can’t hear it, but there is a steady buzz as they come in with their feet already heavy with pollen.
