Ringside risk

Our first full day in Tokyo and we had plenty to see. First stop was the Imperial Palace Gardens where the horses and carriages were out doing a practice run in preparation for the city's next distinguished visitors. The flags suggested they may be from Thailand and Malaysia. Next stop was the evergreen forest and the Meiji Shrine then on to the 'busiest pedestrian intersection in the world' - the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Although we did cross (several times) we didn't get to see it from a good vantage point. We did however get to see the statue of Hachiko. Think Greyfirars Bobby.

The evening's entertainment was day 11 of the Sumo Grand Tournament at Kokugikan. It is a very popular event and, despite not understanding most of what was happening, I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would.
