Flower Fairy

I think Grace looks a bit like one of Cicely Mary Barker's flower fairies in this dress! She and I had a wonderfully sunny, busy and enjoyable summer's day. We started off early, going into Newcastle to have breakfast at my niece's house as it is her birthday tomorrow. She made us blueberry and raspberry pancakes with maple syrup. Mmmmm! Next it was on to visit a friend at Albemarle Barracks who has just had her second child. Lovely to meet the new arrival, though also sad as the family are being stationed down south at the end of the month, so we won't be seeing them for much longer. After that, we continued across the scenic Military Road - so called as it is on the original Roman coast to coast route and follows the path of Hadrian's Wall - and stopped for lunch at a friend's place along with our regular Thursday gang of Mums and Toddlers. After lunch, the little ones had a run around in the garden and a splash in the paddling pool, whilst the Mummies had a good old chat. We were quite late back and Grace didn't nap too well because it was so very hot in her room. She's gone off to sleep like a shot tonight though!
