Life in Sunny Dubai

The Artist

Monday hit like a tonne of bricks this morning. Wow. I was in bed by 11:30 and it was still hard to get going. I was pleased I got to my desk by 8:15! The week has started well on that front (YAY).

I had a visit from the building's maintenance department. The manager himself came to inspect the flat and reassure me that they are doing their best to tackle the issues, which I've been reporting since November last year!

The big things today were having a good catch-up with SweetArt and getting paid! I was so excited that I took G out for dinner. Al Seef is our go-to place, and Wokyo was the perfect meal. Fresh, well-cooked and delicious! On our way back to the car, we walked past a familiar stall that sold the works of a "local" artist. A new saleslady asked if we'd like to look at more paintings. I happened to ask who the artist was, and she mentioned his name, so I asked her to pass on a message to him about how much we love looking at his work as we walk past it. She said I could tell him myself and led me to his shop/studio, where he was working on two paintings at the same time! I have come home with one of his pieces. :))

He permitted me to take pictures of his work, so that is what my blip is today.

We finished our celebration meal with Baskin Robbins ice cream at their Karama branch, which the new person behind the counter knew was over 40 years old! There you go.
