Theatre Royal

I had a super day in Glasgow with friends C and T. I was delighted to find the cobbler I wanted and managed to get my favourite boots re-soled. T and I each bought new suitcases at a good price in John Lewis in preparation for a future trip. We all spent a very peaceful hour in the basement cafe area of Waterstones. Coffee and cold drinks helped us to recuperate from our morning of pavement pounding and city noise. This prepared us for the highlight of the day, the ballet performance at the Theatre Royal, the oldest theatre in Glasgow. The entrance to the theatre certainly didn’t look Victorian (main) but it was a different scene once we entered the auditorium (extra). The performance by Sir Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company, portraying the story of Edward Scissorhands was fantastic! The characterisation, the dancing, the music and the scenery was all breathtaking and there were lots of laughs and some tears as the storyline unfolded. A wonderful experience!
