Coleton Fishacre

Colin came around to the chalet this morning and we took off for the National Trust property Coleton Fishacre.  This 1930's house and gardens was the home of Richard D'Oyly Carte founder of the D'Oyly Opera, famous for the performances of Gilbert and Sullivan, and owner of the Savoy Hotel.

Set in the midst of beautiful Devon countryside with sea views the house retains much of the original furniture and fittings, with much Art Deco influence in evidence.  The garden was a riot of colour, flowers and water features.

After a picnic lunch we went to Broadsands as we have not been there before and the sun was still shining.  Summer was in full swing there, the beach was busy, people were in the sea and most of the beach huts were occupied.

We walked along the coast path to Elberry Cove where Dylan had a paddle in the sea, then it was home for tea where I made a mushroom frittata.

The internet signal here is being very intermittent at the moment so the next couple of days may be hit and miss regarding blipfoto and publishing/commenting.  I will try and catch up as and when possible.
