Point de Vue

Alto Douro

We are driving east and south to Portugal’s Algarve region, stopping overnight in a couple of spots.

Today, we drove through the Douro wine area, with its terraced vineyards, lazy river and spectacular sights.

Then a bit of highway to make up for time before reaching our first stop: Marvão, a mountain top rempart-village. (See extra for the view from our room)

We had a few heart stopping moment when the GPS took us through near impassable cobblestone streets and fields: it goes a bit crazy when you are in off the beaten path spots. Thankful hubby is a fantastic driver!
