Lilacs

The homeowner at one of the plant sales I was at last weekend has a variegated lilac in their yard. It really falls into the rare and unusual category. Since this is the last year they are having their sale I told them I would like to have a piece of the lilac sometime. They let me know yesterday that they had a piece ready for me and that the remaining daylilies would be buy one, get one free. It is less than an hours drive for me, so I went this afternoon to pick it up and I also bought more daylilies. I do use them on various jobs throughout the summer, so not all of them are for me.

I had a surprise phone call this morning, just as I was pulling into the parking lot where we were meeting for brunch. The owner where I am living called me to see if I was home or would be home today. She has someone who can do some of the repairs to the house, including the garage door. And he wanted to start today! But since I did not have any notice, I wasn't going to change my plans for the day. I asked her to give the guy my number, and to have him call me so we could set something up. Hopefully things will get done.

I put an ad on a website today that I will have a room to rent to a student later this summer. I have already had 2 replies, one of which has already sent her references. Since I have better luck hiring students to work for me, perhaps the same will happen with a roommate.
