Life in Sunny Dubai

Umm Ramool

We woke fairly early for a Saturday. G came into my room with a plan for the day. We needed to do some shopping, and she wanted to get it done sooner rather than later, so we were out and on our way before 10 AM.

The first stop was M&S in Mall of the Emirates. The store there has had a major revamp, (finally) getting a cafe. We had breakfast and then did the shop, except it was cut short. Khalid messaged to say we could collect the car, preferably before 2:30.

We raced over to the other side of town to be reunited. The a/c is better, but not what I would expect from a brand-new compressor. Anyway, we still had the hire car to return, so plans changed with us dropping the shopping at home before returning the car.

We headed to Festival City to get the car washed inside and out, have a bite at IKEA, and lastly, an essentials shop at Carrefour. It all went smoothly until we got back into the car. The a/c was not blowing hot air as when we drove it to the workshop on 14th May, but it definitely wasn't blowing cold air either. ARGH. It's so frustrating.

We came home, and I contemplated the next steps. I finally managed to speak to the supplier of the first replacement compressor. He has agreed to meet tomorrow morning to take the part and give me a refund. I wanted to spend the evening looking for parts but ended up taking a break and having some time off.

My blip is of a very modern government building in Umm Ramool. We were waiting for a taxi (or bus), having ridden on the Metro after returning the hire car. (Oh, how I wish we'd held on to it until Monday). And I have just caught up with five days of blips!
