The Great Gathering - Mallard 75

Following on from Wednesday's blip here is a blip of all 6 remaining class A4 Pacific locomotives which have been gathered together at the National Railway Museum in York. This is event is extra special as two of the locomotives were donated to museums in the USA (Dwight D Eisenhower), and Canada (Dominion of Canada), so they have been brought back to the UK for a year to help celebrate the 75th anniversary of Mallard setting the world speed record for a steam train.

It was an extremely busy day so getting good photos was a challenge with not a lot of room to work with and lots of people looking at the engines, and taking photos. Thank goodness for digital cameras as some many people were getting in the way of each others photos.

So here is a group shot of all 6 locos, (l-r) Sir Nigel Gresley, Dwight D Esienhower, Union of South Africa, Bittern, Mallard, and Dominion of Canada.

There are more of my photos of the day available here
