Look Out

Monks Hood

Also known as Wolfsbane. I had to look up what it might be as I didn’t recognise this delphinium like plant. Highly toxic - even handling it requires gloves as toxins can pass through the skin and cause neurological problems. Apparently used to kill wolves, added to the tips of arrows and spears, and as a form of execution in Roman times. All parts are toxic, the roots especially so.

I have travelled down to Herefordshire and my SiL and BiL’s lodge. We took the two beagles for a walk around the lake, which is where I came across this plant. As beagles will sniff at and eat anything it’s good knowing this is one to avoid.
