What bird is this?

Packed up everything that I wanted to have for the next few days and put it into the Toyata. The owners came and helped me pack up the camper trailer (only seen it being packed up once before!! so had a bit of an idea of how it was supposed to be done) They are going to store it for a while until we know what is happening.
As I was driving back to Ayr, I saw this bird wonder across the road, and then start eating the grass. But I can't find it in any of the books I have on Australian birds with me. PJ says it is a duck. But...... does anyone know what it is?
