Long

Slow start doing word games etc then we went to Rowley’s farm for one of their great breakfast rolls. Met up with T on his way to mow some lawns and chatted about holidays, Thailand, vans, a book he’s read by Manchester’s night time economy tzar, cooking demonstrations, festival trips etc. Delicious breakfast as usual and then we bought some bacon, sausages, a pork pie and chicken for the weekend and left T to get on with the gardening whilst we went back to K’s to talk potential holiday plans for next year.
After some web browsing I packed up the car and made a cup of tea to take with me and set off for the drive north. Very busy roads….its ages since it’s been so slow but it was a Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend so to be expected I suppose. Thank goodness I could just sink into my book and listen to it non stop for the six hours or so it took to get to A&N’s! After a wobbly start I’ve been enjoying it…David Nicholls is certainly very good at writing dialogue.
Once I arrived I had a quick wander around the garden, looking at how the awful rain we’ve had so much of has accelerated all the growth….these lupins hadn’t even started to grow their flower spikes when I was last here and are now looking splendid, especially sprinkled with all the raindrops in their leaves. We shared the pork pie with some salad and caught up with what we’ve both been doing and plans for the weekend….
